How about a paddle to Cockatoo Island where well land and can spend around 1-2 hours or so looking around.
It's about 5 km direct each way but without adding too much distance we could visit Woolwich Dock on the way and perhaps head around Birchgrove and Goat Island on the way back if everyone's up for that. We can also check out the local sea eagle along the way.
There are two cafes on Cockatoo and lots to see with buildings dating back to the 1840s. Australian Ninja Warrior series was filmed there. The film Unbroken was filmed there in 2014.
